Shane Faircloth

Youth Minister
I was born right here in Virginia at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital and grew up in Virginia Beach. I am the oldest of three children who grew up in a very loving and Christian home. My father was a Senior Chief in the United States Navy assigned to VA-65 and VA-35 and spent a lot of time out to sea so I can relate to the challenges and stresses that come with being a military family. I attended Kempsville Meadows and Rosemont Elementary schools, Kemps Landing and Brandon Middle Schools, and graduated from Green Run High School in 1991.
Since graduation I have been focused on what I feel is my call, working with children and youth. I started by working for Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation as an Activity Center Director running Before/After School and Summer Camps. This great opportunity was a way for me to pay it forward to a program that provided me with many great experiences and role models. This position led to a Teaching position in the P.E. Departments of Windsor Oaks and Rosemont Elementary Schools.
During this time I met my wife, Vicky, while attending St. John’s Baptist Church. Having just recently graduated from college she was beginning her new position as the summer intern for the Norfolk Baptist Association. Her job was to develop inner city ministries like sports camps and backyard bible clubs. To make a really long story short we have been doing ministry together ever since. We have worked as a Youth Ministry Team at First Baptist Virginia Beach, Great Neck Baptist, St. John’s Baptist, and now Thalia Lynn Baptist. We have performed many Passover Seders in local churches as a part of Vicky’s family ministry as Messianic Jewish missionaries from Argentina working for the IMJA and Chosen People Ministries. When we first met I was a teacher and Vicky was in ministry and now our roles have switched. She is an AP History teacher at Cox High School and now I am the Youth Minister.
I received my call into full time ministry while working as middle school teacher at Treasure Coast Christian Academy in Port St. Lucie, Florida. God has been opening doors for me and my wife ever since. I returned to Virginia Beach for a family vacation and one of those doors opened in the way of the John Leland Center for Theological Studies where I am currently working towards a Masters in Divinity.
When not studying or leading a youth group event or bible study I can be found fishing, golfing, playing with my two boys David and Joshua, or visiting one of the many historical sights in Virginia with my wife.
