There are numerous opportunities at Thalia Lynn specifically designed for women. In addition to several Sunday morning “women only” Bible study groups, we have an active WMU and WINGS ministry, with different events that occur during the year.
Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) WMU is the “family name” of our women’s missions organization. It is open to all women and its functions, simply put, are to teach missions, do missions, give to missions, and pray for missions. These things happen in and through the three main women’s mission groups that operate under the larger WMU umbrella. Those groups are: Women On Mission, GA’s and Mission Friends. Our Women On Mission group sponsors regular churchwide get-togethers (with dinner) for the purpose of mission awareness and fellowship. They also sponsor three different groups that meet on the second Thursday of each month: Women’s Bible Study, Women’s Muti-focus Group, and Women’s Roundtable Book Club. The GA’s represent our primary missions organization for girls in first grade through sixth and Mission Friends covers children through kindergarten.
As a member of the Norfolk Baptist Association, Thalia Lynn’s WMU participates with other churches in the area in mission training and in mission projects.
W.I.N.G.S. is a ministry group for women of all ages. Its purpose is to encourage and equip women to be better connected with the process of becoming all that God intends in the context of their relationship with Christ. Through retreats, Bible studies, fellowship events and special classes, women are helped to better understand their own uniqueness and just how that uniqueness fits into God’s plan for their lives.
